Organization Profile
My Skin My Life Foundation was founded by youth with Albinism within the coast region. It started in 2009 as a self-help group formerly known as 'Coast Albinism Self-Help Group'. As time went by, in 2011, the status of this organization was upgraded to a Community Based Organization (CBO). The registration took place under the ministry of social, gender and children.
Due to high demand for services delivery and people who wanted to associate with this organization's progress, we decided to upgrade it to a full Non-Governmental Organization (N.G.O) in the year 2017. This expansion allowed us to broaden our reach and deepen our impact across Kenya and other African countries.

Challenges We Face
Despite our progress, we continue to address significant barriers affecting our community
Insufficient Funding
Insufficient funds to run our day-to-day activities including logistic and communications costs as well as administration expenses, limiting our capacity to expand services and reach more communities in need.
Family Challenges
High rate of divorce cases as a result of an Albinism child being born, creating additional hardship for families and children in need of support and counseling services.
Hostile Environment & Stigma
Hostile environment from the general public with widespread lack of knowledge about Albinism, creating unwelcoming conditions for people living with the condition in schools, workplaces, and communities.
Policy Gaps
Poor government policies on matters pertaining to Albinism conditions, hindering comprehensive support and protection of the rights of people living with Albinism.
Why We Exist
People living with Albinism face unique challenges: limited access to quality education, preventable health issues, widespread stigma, and limited economic opportunities. These challenges are compounded by myths and misconceptions that persist across many communities.
My Skin My Life Foundation was born from the conviction that every person living with Albinism deserves:
- •Access to quality education without discrimination
- •Quality health care and preventive support
- •Economic opportunities and self-sufficiency
- •Respect, dignity, and freedom from stigma
Through education, health initiatives, and economic empowerment, we're transforming lives and building a society where Albinism is understood, accepted, and celebrated.
